As Mr Earley was off, we decided to have our own music lesson in the
classroom. First we listened to some nursery rhymes such as Pop Goes the
Weasel and Humpty Dumpty. Next we chose a musical instrument and had to
carefully play a beat in time with the rhythm of the song. We clearly had
some talented musicians among us.

The Airplane

Our second invention to learn about was the invention of the airplane by
the Wright Brothers. We carefully designed our own planes and made them out
of paper. After, we took them outside and tested their flight. Some of them
flew up high in the air. Others, some claimed, did huge loop the loops.

Matisse Masterpieces

This week, in art, we have been learning about Matisse. We looked at his
picture ‘The Snail’ and discussed the colours and techniques he used. Next
we thought of our own insects and created them using Matisse’s ‘cut out’
style. They looked fantastic.

Mr Wiggle and Mr Waggle

Today we had great fun learning the story of Mr Wiggle and Mr Waggle. We
practised retelling the story, using our hands to show the actions.
Tomorrow we are going to look at a story map and adapt it to create a new
one. This will build up to writing our new version next week. If you’re not
sure how the story of Mr Wiggle and Mr Waggle goes, don’t forget to ask us.
